Huge excitement when a pair of nuthatches started investigating an old nest-box. It started with a strange drumming from inside the box which continued for several weeks as they layered the bottom with sawdust by chipping away at the inside walls! Luckily the walls are quite thick! They then started adding mud to the underside of the box lid and finally about 2 weeks ago I think that Mrs Nuthatch laid her eggs. I am now eagerly awaiting them hatching and the parents feeding frenzy beginning. I will follow their progress and post regular updates. Who knew isolation would be such fun! Stay safe everyone and enjoy the birds.
